Workshop – Non-formal education and care structures for children from 0 to 12 – Challenges for Luxembourg

Couverture Working Paper

For a little over a year, the Observatories for School Quality on the one hand and Childhood and Adolescence on the other have been brought together to promote a holistic view of children and young people. The workshop on 5 July 2023 aimed to identify the challenges currently facing non-formal education and care structures for children in Luxembourg. Stakeholders from research, policy and practice were invited to present their views and to update and complement the challenges identified by research. Experts from non-formal and formal education were present to discuss five categories of challenges based on the findings of a document analysis:

  1. Heterogeneity
  2. Reconciliation of social and educational policy objectives
  3. Coordination and governance
  4. Professionalisation and qualification of staff
  5. Data and monitoring

The results of the document analysis, the workshop and their linkage back to international research will be available by the end of 2023.
